The desert plant aloe vera is a true survivor. It stores up to one litre of water in its leaves, then closes the pores and can thus survive for months without a drop of rain. The gel in its leaves also contains almost 200 health-promoting and healing minerals, vitamins and enzymes. It is therefore not surprising that the plant has been used in medicine and beauty care for centuries.
