Allantoin

Allantoin is a product of protein metabolism that is found in many plants such as horse chestnut bark, comfrey and black salsify, maple, wheat germ, but also in the urine of mammals. Allantoin stimulates wound healing and cell formation. The active ingredient also has a callus-softening effect, which is why it is often used in formulations for blemished skin, soothes skin irritations and is generally considered to be extremely well tolerated.
